The Demon Dictionary
The Demon Dictionary Identifies Satan's Primary Demons By Name And Discusses Their Influences Upon Mankind. Most people believe that angels exist. But what about demons? Are demons real? Without a doubt they are! When The wicked one fell from heaven, he was not alone. One third of all angels (his followers) were also bound to earth by God. These angels are what we commonly refer to as demons. Nearly all religious texts speak of demons and there acts. For instance, in case you believe the bible to true, you must believe that demons most certainly exist. Demons are mentioned many times within this text alone. While many people do believe in the existence of Satan's angels, few have bothered to discover their names or their purpose here on earth. There are legions upon legions of fallen angels, but there are only 72 high ranking demons that rule and command all the others. These are the leaders in Hell and will be the commanders of Satan's army at the final fight. This book is an attempt to identify these primary demons.
Symptoms resembling panic attacks are common in cultures where members have strong beliefs in witchcraft or evil spirit attacks (Castillo, 1997 Kirmayer, Young, & Hayton, 1995). For example, trembling or shaking, chest pain, fear of dying, palpitations, and other symptoms for Panic Disorder are generally reported by Hispanics with intensive fears of malign magic, malevolent attacks by witchcraft, or evil spirit attacks. These symptoms resemble the culture-bound syndrome named ataques de nervios among Hispanics (DSM-IV, 1994 Kirmayer et al., 1995 see Table I). The DSM-IV (1994), however, pointed out that the association of most ataques with a precipitating event and the frequent absence of the hallmark symptoms of acute fear or apprehensions distinguish these ataques from Panic Disorder (p. 845). Another culture-bound syndrome resembling Panic Disorder is Ode-ori (Table I), which is often reported among the Nigerian culture and is characterized by sensations of parasites crawling in...
Delusional ideas (e.g., witchcraft) and auditory hallucinations (e.g., seeing the Virgin Mary or hearing God's voice) may be abnormal in one culture and normal in other cultures (Castillo, 1997). For example, in the Nigerian culture, paranoid fears of evil attacks by spirits are part of the local beliefs involving fears of malevolent attacks by evil spirits (Kirmayer et al., 1995). These fears are examples of the culture-bound syndrome named Ode-ori in Table I. As noted by Kirmayer et al. (1995), these paranoid fears might be misdiagnosed as symptoms of psychosis by the uninformed clinician (p. 509). Variability in language, style of emotional expressions, body language, and eye contact across cultures should be considered when assessing symptoms of Schizophrenia. In the case of Brief Psychotic Disorder, it should be distinguished from culturally sanctioned response patterns. For example, in certain religious ceremonies a person may report hearing voices, which are not considered as...
In traditional African culture, there is both a highly egalitarian impulse and a strong levelling tendency which some scholars have identified as the causative explanation for a practice such as witchcraft (Geschiere, 1997) which I would basically consider a metaphor4 for practices and discourses fundamentally aimed at reining in super-human power and extraordinary intelligence so that these might not be abused or used selfishly and immorally but rather altruistically and benevolently. A society in which such control exists may not develop or progress very quickly but it may develop and progress more surely and safely. Western culture, of course, is not without an egalitarian component but this is mainly egalitarianism in the sense of equality of opportunity which, in practice, always ends up with unequal results which are then accepted and protected, thereby undermining empathy and solidarity as well as making further equality of opportunity impossible. Because human beings are very...
Relative to the client's cultural background and explanatory models (Chaplin, 1997). For example, traditional healers assisting Hispanics with the management of medical problems might disagree with the medical evaluation and findings provided by a physician. This disagreement could reinforce the client's folk beliefs about disease (DSM-IV, 1994, p. 464). An emphasis on the medical evaluation and the absence of significant findings to confirm the presence of a given disease would probably compete-with beliefs among Hispanic clients regarding the role of bad spirits and malevolent witchcraft that could result in medical problems, as well as with the belief regarding the role of healers (curanderos curanderas) in the solution of medical problems (Paniagua, 1998). As noted by Castillo (1997), clients holding these beliefs would continue looking for the right physician if the medical condition is not evaluated and managed with the assistance of healers in a given culture.
Therapeutic Uses and Folklore Egyptians and Greeks brewed dill seed into a magic potion used against witchcraft. They also used it for treating hiccups and many ailments. Asian Indians use dill seed to relieve stomach pains and hiccups because of its soothing effect on the digestive system. It is an important ingredient in a tonic that is given to babies in England, India, and Southeast Asia to relieve colic pains. Chewing on the seeds clears halitosis, stimulates appetite, and induces sleep.
