Conclusion

To date, proteomics studies have just begun to unravel small details of the ''aging proteome.'' Continuous improvements of proteomics methodology are necessary, specifically with regard to sample preparation and presentation, in order to cover as large parts of the entire proteome as possible and to extract biologically meaningful information. Experimental studies need to be accompanied by bioinformatics studies, which provide information about protein interaction networks. These studies are in progress and will yield important information on the ''aging proteome'' in, hopefully, not too distant time.
