VIDA® (Volumetric Image Display and Analysis) is a UNIX-based visualization and image analysis package that was developed primarily for image quantification in physiological evaluation applications. The user can manipulate multiple image data sets or execute multiple processes simultaneously. Available programs for visualization include orthogonal sectioning, oblique sectioning, volume rendering, surface rendering, and movie viewing. Available programs for image analysis include region of interest analysis, conventional cardiac mechanics analysis, homogeneous strain analysis, tissue blood flow evaluation, and tube geometry analysis. It also includes image manipulation functions such as interactive image segmentation and editing, algebraic image manipulation, and a graphical interface for creating automatic image analysis processes. VIDA allows new programs to be developed and integrated.
