The conformational analysis of PGF2a has been accomplished by the use of X-ray diffraction techniques. Two independent structures appear as familiar hairpin configurations, as shown in Figure 16-6. In contrast, TX molecules as represented by TXB2 (Figure 16-3) do not adopt the PG hairpin configuration, as shown in Figure 16-7. These configurations specify obvious differences between the architectures of the PG and TX receptors. The side chains of these structures probably wobble considerably in solution or in the gel phase.
