Thymosin a

Thymosin a, was the initial polypeptide to be isolated among the fractions obtained from bovine thymus. It is very active in the process of T-cell immunity and modulates the expression of terminal deoxy-nucleotidyltransferase. The N-terminal amino acid residue is blocked by an acetyl group. Inspection of Figure 17-6 indicates homology with thymosin ay but not with the other well-characterized hormones and factors. There are apparently no known homologies with
