1. Posterior divisions a. These divisions grow into the posterior condensation of mesoderm.

b. Posterior divisions will form the superior gluteal nerve (L4, L5, Si), inferior gluteal nerve (L5, SI, S2), femoral nerve (L2, L3, L4), and common per-oneal nerve (L4, L5, Si, S2), thus innervating all the muscles that form from the posterior condensation.

2. Anterior divisions a. Anterior divisions grow into the anterior condensation of mesoderm.

b. These divisions will form the tibial nerve (L4, L5, Si, S2, S3) and the obturator nerve (L2, L3, L4), thus innervating all the muscles that form from the anterior condensation.
