Site/number/size/number involved/limit node/extracapsular spread. Regional nodes: cervical, upper/superior mediastinal

Level I: submental, submandibular

Level II: upper jugular

Level III: middle jugular

Level IV : lower jugular

Level V: posterior triangle.

A selective neck dissection will ordinarily include a minimum of six lymph nodes. Radical neck dissection is rarely performed for thyroid cancer.

pN0 no regional lymph nodes metastasis pN1 metastasis in regional lymph node(s)

a. Level VI (including pre-/paratracheal and prelaryngeal nodes)

b. other unilateral, bilateral or contralateral cervical or upper/ superior mediastinal nodes.
